Driver & Operations Assistant

About Reground

Reground is a waste education service committed to changing behaviour around waste. We believe waste is a resource. We collect coffee, chaff, and soft plastic from cafes, offices, retail stores, and roasteries in Melbourne. We are actively engaged in changing the systems around waste both through applied solutions and advocacy work. We have diverted over 878,000 kilos of coffee from landfill to community and home gardeners and helped businesses move closer to being waste-free. We are a small and impactful team, excited to introduce an energetic and hands-on Driver & Operations Assistant to our team. 

About the Role

This role is much more than a Driver, you will be the face of Reground. Our most important interactions happen while collecting and distributing ground coffee, chaff, and soft plastic. You will be helping us improve logistics and collect our specialised waste in a professional, efficient, and personable manner. You will be in and out of some of Melbourne's most well known and respected cafes, offices, and retail stores and will have interactions with our beloved network of committed baristas, cafe owners, and end-users. Being a friendly and sociable creature is a must!

While physical strength is all in the mind, you will be wheeling 80-kilo bins to and from the van and emptying them at the end-user, so feeling strong and healthy is a must. . Being resourceful and constantly looking for new optimisation opportunities are two characteristics that you embody.

You will be responsible for keeping our site in Alphington clean, neat, and attractive for when we have site visits from end-users and locals in the community this includes baling plastics and organisaing the storage of bales on site. 

A few details about the job

  • 1-3 days per week: these will be set

  • This is a permanent part-time position

A few details about you

  • Organised, while collecting you will have a pre-determined route but optimising on the job is common 

  • Familiar with the flow of the hospitality industry 

  • Timely in fast-paced situations with an ability to multitask

  • A great communicator - a love of building relationships is key

  • Up for a physical challenge

  • Confident driver - our van is large and long 

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Must hold Australian drivers license and no charges against the license

  • Must have a phone with internet access to run programs like Google Maps and Typeform
