Project Support (Permanent Part-Time)

We are a small, fun and impactful team, excited to bring an energetic and hands-on new person onboard.

About Reground

Reground is a waste education service committed to changing behaviour around waste. We believe waste is a resource. We collect ground coffee, chaff, and soft plastic from cafes, offices, retail stores, and roasteries around Melbourne. We are actively engaged in changing the systems around waste both through applied solutions and advocacy work. We have diverted over 1.25 million kilos of coffee from landfill to community and home gardeners and helped hundreds of businesses move closer to being waste-free.

About this role

This is a permanent part-time role, starting with the same day-to-day tasks as the Project Support (Casual) but with the opportunity to move into other project support work with Reground after the initial period has ended. You will be working four days per week (no weekend days) and based out of our Alphington site.

This is a broad role, providing support to the Reground Project Teams, Project Managers and Directors.
You will be part of a team conducting waste-related activities such as visual and weight-based audits, implementing waste solutions, speaking with stakeholders on the ground and gaining deep insights into waste and recycling behaviour.

You will be out and about conducting on-the-ground waste-related activities in Melbourne’s inner north. This is an active, hands-on role: you will be driving and cycling (using an e-bike) around metropolitan areas, engaging with residents and solving problems.

Key activities you may undertake will be -

  • Conducting collections of unused wheelie bins and dropping off new bins

  • Assessing waste areas for usability and aesthetics

  • Visually assessing bins to gain insightful waste data

  • Engaging with residents

  • Installing additional recycling streams

  • Putting up new signage and floor markings

  • Scheduling and planning the most effective routes

  • Driving and cycling around metropolitan areas

  • Handling, sorting and weighing waste and recycling

A little extra

You don’t need to know much about waste, you’ll learn the ins and outs of this when joining, however, you do need to recognise the importance and the potential that waste plays in combating climate change and creating community and well-being.
